What We Do
God isn’t holding anything back. His goodness and power are available to us if we’ll ask.
If Murray Chi Alpha is our home away from home, Wednesday nights are our living room. It’s a chance for us to connect with each other and God, share our successes and failures, pray with and learn from each other. It’s good stuff.
Wednesdays are also our greatest opportunity to teach God’s heart for our campus. As we experience God’s presence, we become convinced we cannot keep Him to ourselves. Come and see. Wednesdays at 7PM in the Curris Center Theatre.
Why wait for a call when you have a command?
Missions is our heartbeat. Jesus has called Murray Chi Alpha to spearhead a movement of students who influence MSU’s culture with the goodness of God. Murray State’s campus is our mission field and each of our students is a missionary.
Each school year we also take trips to faraway lands like The Bahamas, Las Vegas, South Korea and Chicago. Traveling to new and different places helps us experience the world God loves and often teaches us far more than we could learn at home.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
We can never reach our potential by ourselves. We need each other. We need leaders who’ve been there before us. We need friends who are going after the same goals. We need to be loved enough to be told when we’re wrong and championed when we’re right.
Meeting together in small groups or 1-on-1 gives us a safe place to grow and learn from failure. Every Timothy had a Paul and every Moses should have a Joshua. Only following prepares us to lead.
Throughout history college campuses have been a seedbed of prayer, evangelism and revival.
Each school year, God highlights students who are on target with what He wants to do the following year. Those students take lead on event planning and setup, small group and one-on-one mentoring, and prayer meetings throughout the year.
These students we call Student Staff are the driving force behind Murray Chi Alpha. Their vision shapes who we are and what we do as a student organization. Their leadership keeps us dynamic. We couldn’t do it without them.
Chi Alpha is a very visible and active part of MSU’s campus life. They provide numerous opportunities for student involvement and Christian fellowship and are a positive influence on the campus. I’ve never seen a more passionate group of students on campus.
Murray Chi Alpha provides a great opportunity for friendship and fellowship with people from all walks of life and denominational backgrounds. In addition, this campus ministry knows how important it is for Racer students to realize spiritual fulfillment as they also develop their academic talents and gifts. Chi Alpha stands ready to welcome you, and it will become an integral part of your college years.
I have been involved with several Christian groups and even attended a Christian college, but I have never grown anywhere like I did with Chi Alpha.
I feel God’s presence here. Chi Alpha has allowed me to see God still works powerfully.
When I checked out Chi Alpha I knew immediately I wanted to be a part of this group. I was welcomed with open arms into my ‘college family.’ I’ve made lifelong friends and grown so much closer to God!
I like to think God has this big toolbox and when He needs something done He opens it up and there’s Chi Alpha!
The spiritual growth and friendships developed through this group by our three sons has been amazing!
If parents knew the transformative power of the Lord acting through Murray Chi Alpha, there would be a long line for admission. Many parents spend and enormous amount of time and money hoping to provide just the right environment, at just the right prestigious college, to help their children ‘get ahead.’ What we got is priceless: a mature young woman focused on living for the Lord, dedicated to serving others, and now attending medical school. How I wish this were true of all the medical students I teach.
Three of my daughters (and now my son) have been deeply blessed by Murray Chi Alpha. It has provided a spiritual home base on campus and opportunities to grow in Jesus.
The moment you meet these students, you immediately notice something special about them. Jesus has no doubt made a difference in their lives.
